Oscar is an associate specializing in labour and employment, human rights and civil litigation.
Oscar provides strategic advice to employers and employees with respect to all aspects of the employment relationship, including employment contracts, employment standards, labour relations, human rights and occupational health and safety. He has experience advocating for clients in wrongful dismissal actions, human rights applications, reprisal allegations and certification applications. Oscar has also acted as prosecutor in police disciplinary hearings under the Police Services Act and in Provincial Offences Act matters pursuant to the Electricity Act.
Prior to joining Brauti Thorning, Oscar worked as an associate at a labour and employment law firm in Toronto. He appeared before a variety of administrative tribunals and was involved in proceedings before all levels of court in Ontario, including trials, appeals, judicial reviews and motions for summary judgment.
Oscar received his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. While at law school, Oscar worked as a caseworker in the Employment Law division of Downtown Legal Services advocating for low-income litigants. Prior to law school, Oscar received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Dalhousie University. He graduated with First Class Honours and was on the Dean’s List throughout his studies.
