Cross-Border Disputes and Enforcement
Sharon provides practical advice on complex cases. She practiced for close to ten years at one of Canada’s largest law firms before joining her partners at Brauti Thorning LLP to build a boutique insolvency and restructuring group. Sharon’s practice focuses on insolvency deals and litigation, enforcement proceedings, distressed asset sales, and complex commercial and international disputes. Sharon provides timely, effective advice and litigation advocacy and has acted for debtor and creditor companies, lenders, receivers and trustees.
Sharon regularly acts as counsel on cross-border matters. She has represented clients from various jurisdictions, including China, Singapore, and the United States and was seconded to her former firm’s London, UK office. Sharon is also experienced Canadian co-counsel on cross-border matters requiring local counsel.
Sharon obtained her undergraduate degree from Trinity College at the University of Toronto where she graduated with Distinction. She obtained her J.D. from Western Law in 2009. Upon graduating, she was awarded the Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt Award in Corporate/Commercial Law.
Sharon is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and an executive of the Insolvency Section of the Ontario Bar Association. She is also a member of The Advocates' Society, the Inter-Pacific Bar Association and the Turnaround Management Association. Sharon is a member of the Board of Directors of the MusicBox Children's Charity.
